As we look back on 2025, one theme stands out for Camden Hills Partners: small and midsized nonprofits in Maine are doing big, serious work, and they’re ready to level up.

Here’s a snapshot of what this year looked like from the consulting side of the table:

Housing & community development

  • Supported the MidCoast Regional Housing Trust as it advanced its “Building Our Future” fund and the Homestead project, moving from vision to tangible permanent workforce housing for the “missing middle” in Knox County and surrounding towns

  • Helped sharpen messaging, board engagement, and fundraising structure so passionate volunteers could confidently talk about the mission, not just feel it

Animal welfare & sheltering

  • Worked alongside SPCA of Hancock County and Humane Society Waterville Area on organizational turnaround, fundraising infrastructure, and leadership support

  • Focused on building sustainable revenue (monthly giving, donor pipelines, DAF-friendly strategies) so shelters can say “yes” more often to the cats and dogs who need them most

Food security & basic needs

  • Partnered with Belfast Soup Kitchen to strengthen strategic marketing, fundraising, and storytelling, helping connect the dots between their daily impact and the many towns they serve

  • Emphasized donor education and community outreach so supporters see themselves as true partners in the work, not just check writers

History, conservation, and place-based organizations

  • Assisted groups such as the Camden-Rockport Historical Society and the Sail, Power, and Steam Museum with board training, strategic planning, and visioning to preserve Maine's heritage while preparing for the future

  • Helped translate “quietly important” work into donor-facing cases for support

Capacity building, leadership, and tools

  • Expanded our coaching support for new executive directors and development leaders

  • Developed toolkits and frameworks around endowment readiness, governance assessment, board engagement, and multi-channel fundraising, designed so nonprofits can keep making progress between consulting engagements

  • Continued to convene and support local philanthropy efforts like 100+ Women Who Care Knox County, Midcoast Habitat for Humanity, Sweet Shots Invitational, and West Bay Rotary initiatives, keeping community and generosity at the center

None of this work is “done,” and that’s the point. The nonprofits we serve are playing the long game: housing, animal welfare, food access, conservation, education, and community resilience in Maine.

In 2026, we will stay focused on what we do best: being the behind-the-scenes partner who helps leaders build the structure, strategy, and fundraising capacity to match the size of their missions.

If your organization is ready for that next level of clarity, discipline, and revenue, and could use a strategist or fundraising partner, we would love to connect. www.CamdenHillsPartnersLLC.com
